What did Digital Inflatables make for Bô Noël?
Giant inflatable baubles in glossy red and gold, in several sizes, that dress a golden lattice tree: Le Grand Sapin.
At night, the lit tree rises above the surrounding facades, the market stalls and the crowd. At its foot, a stall carries the sign Le Grand Sapin.
In its post, the workshop thanks Bô Noël for its loyalty and for being willing to try new ideas.
What is Bô Noël in Lausanne?
Bô Noël is the festive season event of Lausanne; its 2023 edition ran from 21 November to 31 December.
The inflatable baubles give the tree its volume and colour, while the golden lattice draws its outline.

Request a quoteHow are giant inflatable baubles fixed to a tree?
Each bauble is inflated, then strapped to the structure; depending on the model, it stays connected to a blower or is sealed once full of air.
Outdoors, wind and rain matter: the fixing, the weight and the choice of fabric count as much as the print.
A seasonal installation has to be ordered early, because the date will not move. The guide to custom inflatable lead times sets out the steps from sketch to delivery.
Why use inflatable baubles for a giant tree?
A large inflatable bauble stays light, folds away after the season and takes little storage space, so it can be used again year after year.
An inflatable bauble can be lit from outside or from within; at night, the tree’s lighting brings out the glossy finish of the baubles.
