Giant inflatable sphere printed as planet Jupiter
Digital Inflatables designed and made a giant inflatable sphere printed to look like the planet Jupiter, presented in 2019. Its fabric carries, all over, the orange, cream and dark red cloud bands parallel to the equator that make the planet recognisable. Photographed on the floor of a white room, it stands far taller than a person and works as a centrepiece for an exhibition, a stage or an advertising campaign.
What is the Digital Inflatables Jupiter sphere?
A large inflatable sphere printed all over in Jupiter’s colours, presented by the workshop in 2019.
The sphere stands on a white floor in an empty, bright room. A few cables and a small light can be seen at its base.
The print covers the whole volume, with no visible seam in the photo: the planet reads from every side.
What does the print on the inflatable sphere show?
Jupiter, the fifth planet of the solar system and a gas giant, known for its cloud bands parallel to the equator.
On the sphere, these bands alternate orange, cream and dark red, with a small dark spot in the upper part.

Request a quoteHow do you print a planet on an inflatable sphere?
A flat image of the planet is split into gores, like a globe, then printed and sewn; a blower keeps the sphere perfectly round.
A large sphere needs a very sharp source image, because each gore enlarges the detail. The joins between gores follow the artwork so the bands stay continuous.
For a glowing planet, a light goes inside, or images are projected onto a pale fabric: this is decided at the design stage. The guide to custom inflatable prices gives budget benchmarks.

Frequently asked questions
Can a giant inflatable planet be made?
Yes: Digital Inflatables, for example, printed an inflatable sphere in Jupiter’s colours in 2019.
What colours does the Jupiter sphere show?
Orange, cream and dark red bands, parallel like the planet’s cloud bands.
Can an inflatable sphere be used indoors?
Yes: the Jupiter sphere was photographed standing on the floor of a room. Indoors, check the ceiling height and the fire rating the venue requires.
How much does a printed inflatable sphere cost?
The price depends on the diameter, the print and any lighting; the guide to custom inflatable prices gives price ranges.
