Digital Inflatables designed and built the Aigle GSHC in 2022, a custom inflatable player tunnel shaped like an eagle with spread wings, for the Genève Servette Hockey Club in Geneva. Standing 6.5 m tall with a 9 m wingspan, it was cut and assembled in under 10 days once the club had picked its 3D design. Delivered for the new National League season in September 2022, it lets players pass under its wings to enter the ice.

What did Digital Inflatables build for the GSHC?

In mid-2022, the GSHC asked Digital Inflatables for a sport tunnel based on an eagle with spread wings.

The eagle has purple, maroon and brown feathers, a white head, a yellow and orange beak and golden talons. Players pass between its legs to enter the ice.

It echoes one of the club’s mascots, Sherkan, a bald eagle.

How did the workshop design and build the eagle?

After only 2 weeks, Digital Inflatables presented several design proposals in 3D, based on the club’s brief.

Once the design was chosen, more than 400 different pieces of fabric were laser-cut, sublimation-printed and sewn by hand.

Production took under 10 days.

How much does a custom inflatable player tunnel cost?

For the Aigle GSHC, the budget was between 8’000 and 15’000 CHF.

The Lion ZSC tunnel, built for Zurich, had the same budget.

Price depends mainly on size, the complexity of the shape and the print: the guide to custom inflatable prices explains these factors.

How is the tunnel used on match nights?

The eagle stands directly on the ice and serves as the entrance tunnel: in the video posted by Digital Inflatables, a player passes under its wings through a cloud of haze, in front of the stands.

In September 2022, the tunnel was ready for the start of the new National League season.

The GSHC plays its home games at the Patinoire des Vernets in Geneva.
