Custom inflatable mirror spheres, 50 cm to 8 m

What is an inflatable mirror sphere?

An inflatable sphere whose metallised fabric works like a curved mirror: it reflects the room, the sky or the crowd around it.

In the workshop’s photos, silver balloons of different sizes are piled against a wall and reflect the ceiling, the windows and the floor. Another video shows a metallic pink shape, still partly deflated, connected to an inflation hose.

According to the workshop, the fabric is triple-layered, which makes the balloon very sturdy.

What sizes and colours can a mirror balloon have?

The published offers cover diameters of 50 cm to 8 m, in 20 colours.

Another offer from the workshop gave a range of 0.5 m to 10 m in diameter, and one more a range of 0.5 m to 5 m. A further post gave 80 cm to 8 metres.

The listed colours go from silver and gold to red, blue, yellow, purple, pink and green. For professional orders, the workshop stated a minimum of $2000 in 2023.

Is an inflatable mirror sphere fire-safe?

The workshop put a mirror balloon through its own flame test, which it passed, on top of checking the paper certificates.

For indoor use, venues and trade shows usually ask for a fire-rating certificate for the fabric. The guide to choosing an inflatable structure manufacturer lists the questions to ask, fire treatment included.

What are giant mirror balloons used for?

To dress a stage, a shop window, a party or an installation: hanging or standing, they catch the light and multiply reflections.

Outdoors, a mirror balloon on a lawn reflects the sky and the buildings around it; thin cords hold it to the ground.

For stage use, the guide to inflatable stage sets for festivals gives more examples.
