Giant trompe-l’oeil inflatable thermos for a Chinese client
Digital Inflatables made a giant trompe-l’oeil inflatable thermos in 2023 for a Chinese client: a glossy red flask with a silver cap, decorated with large pink and red peonies. The lacquered, silvery look is printed: the inflatable is made of standard white fabric, with no metallised parts at all. In the photo, standing on a green sheet, it looks taller than the building behind it.
What did Digital Inflatables make for this Chinese client?
A giant trompe-l’oeil inflatable thermos that looks lacquered and metallic while being made of printed standard white fabric.
The red body is decorated with pink and red peonies and green leaves; the silver cap is printed too, with no metallised parts.
In the photo, the thermos stands on a green sheet in front of a white building.
What is a trompe-l’oeil inflatable?
It is an inflatable whose print imitates a material, a reflection or a relief: here metal and lacquer, on plain white fabric.
The technique reproduces the look of a product with a single printed fabric, without joining fabrics of different materials.
